Reckoning Gaming's Best Mods of 2011

Mod of the year, might be the toughest decision out there, with thousands of mods to choose from. Simple things like logo corrections or full rebuilds like Nehrim can make a game last alot longer and we would like to recognize these as well.

So without any further build-up let's get onto the list.

Reckoning Gaming's Mod of the Year:
Mods make PC gaming so much better, with the feeling of truly being able to customize anything it makes your game feel limitless. With thousands of mods this will be a hard choice but uniqueness will be a major factor here.

#5: FSone 2009 (rFactor)

The Red Bull#15 FSone 09

Our fourth runner up has to be FSone 2009. It hit rFactor with a bang and made the multiplayer scene over the newest 2011 and 2010 mods, the addition of KERS made it just that much special.

With it's ultra-real physics many leagues also took this mod on for their 2011 seasons, including my own. After putting down countless hours of seat time I must say FSone surely is one of the better mods seen on rFactor.

#4 A Requiem of the Capital Wasteland (Fallout NV)

A phenominal mod by MasterYster on New Vegas Nexus will combine Fallout 3 with Fallout New Vegas. Making gameplay extremely longer for your character as you take on both Fallout 3's main story and New Vegas' storyline as well. Amazing DLC works as well.

#3 ARMA II: Advanced Combat Environment (ACE mod)

Making ARMA II a little more realistic? That's a hard task but the A.C.E. mod team took the challenge and succeeded in not only ARMA II but also in the stand alone expansion Operation Arrowhead.

A small list of improvements include better explosions, a chance for an explosion to knock you down or even make you deaf and many many more weapons to choose from in-game.

#2 NHL 04 Rebuilt to NHL 2012 (NHL 04)

Take an old game that might have been the best hockey game and update it, sounds simple but when you add new teams like Winnipeg and think about new interfaces, cutscenes and team specific scoreboards you get mod of the year quality. I can't believe another mod edged this out but this rebuild is extremely well done and is a must try for all hockey fans out there.

Thanks to everyone at what used to be Flyermania you can have the best hockey experience on PC with just NHL 04 and this mod.

#1 NCAA 2k11 Mod (NBA 2k11)

With the NCAA not releasing a game for PC, players make an exception with NBA 2k11 and the total conversion by NLSC you can experience virtual NCAA hoops for possibly the first time on PC. This mod has more flaws than the NHL rebuilt package but still is quite a piece of work and it's uniqueness gives it an edge on mod of the year.

Congratulations to all on this list for making PC gaming just a little better.

(NBA 2k11 ((NCAA Mod))) Tompson - Boling Arena floor by Jbvol

Not long after the college basketball season started I found this wonderful NCAA mod for NBA 2k11, now I'm not an NBA fan but I do like college sports so during the Thanksgiving sale I grabbed NBA 2k11 solely for this mod.

It can only be summed up into one word awesome. The modders did a superb job on this and I suggest it to any basketball fan or sports fan.

But it can't all be too perfect, of course they finished the project before finishing the Tennessee Vol's court. Well hopefully I can help out with that! Sadly I don't know how to edit the sidelines so there won't be a checkerboard at the inbound area BUT I did fix that misplaced T in midcourt that annoyed me.

If anyone knows how to edit the sidelines please contact me I just got this game and only got in a few hours of playing with the various texture editors, hopefully you'll enjoy the first release of this mod (Alpha)

Reckoning Gaming in Call of Duty: Black Ops

Ah, Call of Duty. Perhaps the most popular and arguable games around. It's constant action keep your adrenaline going but it's lack of proper war tactics that make it that 'Run and Gun' game keeps some players astray.

Like any FPS game Lynch and I have our moments in this game (Thankfully there's a theater mode to prove they happened as well.

Ah, ARMA II, the only real war sim game out there. In fact it's the probably our "Spotlight" game, [RG] Jbvol as a spotter and [RG] Lynch as one of the most skilled gaming snipers you could find.

In these videos we pair up as a Sniper/Spotter team and take out anything from enemy reinforcements to a town to a flipped Vodnik or a Vodnik itself.

A typed review of F1 2010

A good game, a good modding community, and a very enjoyable career mode yet still I was expecting more realistic handling compared to rFactor or iRacing's sims, it's not as realistic in handling as I was hoping for but it's still really fun to play and that's all that matters.

The lights are out and they're off for another GP

The career mode is fun and provides a new challenge with every race, which is the best part of racing, you can't really expect the same thing. Whether it's a flat-spot on a tire from driving too aggressive or a random rainstorm going through. Every single race seems to have it's own twists.

F1 2010's Damage system is far superior than any other game's

The weather is perfect, forecast systems and your engineer will help you but it takes great racing and game knowledge to know when to stop for your wet or intermediate tires.

The multiplayer is addictive at first, thanks to it's ranking system, but loses it's luster after a while when people believe they need to be the first into the first corner to win. Like every racing game it depends on who you race with and how 'dirty' they'll race, if they believe in the standard rules then it'll be a fun race. If they decide that wrecking is the best way your gaming experience will drop dramatically.

Track details are done in awesome detail

The graphics are superb and the achievements, fun but the rules can be a little bit too sensitive, like an AI or player bumping you and then you getting a penalty for it.

Race Department's F1 2011 mod for F1 2010

If you're playing single player only, try out Racedepartment for the 2011 mod for your game, it definitely will breathe more life into this old game and also be on the lookout for F1 2011 coming out this year, which looks better than last years version!

Well done Codies, a great first attempt and I cannot wait to review F1 2011 the day it comes out.

"This is my first ever real video I have worked on and made for the enjoyment of myself and others.

I own no rights to the game Resident Evil 5, or the music Blow Me Away - Breaking Benjamin. Both were used in the production of this music video. I take no rights of ownership for either of the products used to make this video. The video has been made for entertainment purposes only.

I spent 2, maybe 3 days on this. ONLY WORKING 3 - 4 hours a day, not mentioning the time I spent setting through theatre recording. I also had to get gameplay clips again, cause the ones I originally had were messed up. Their was many issues in making the video, due to Windows Movie Maker being an ass.. However, I worked through it.

Recommendation: Everyone should take time to make atleast one video so they can say "I put this on youtube" and be proud. Don't half-ass your work, and put forth all your effort. Be proud no matter what, as long as you did the best you could, or the best you thought it could be.

Warning: For 2 - 3 days I had to use about 30 - 40 GB's of space in order to make this video. Also - You will use (With effects, clips, and music) around 90 - 100 GB's on a well made video. Make sure you have the space."

Hello to the few viewers we have already, hopefully this will fix the blank page we currently have.

This site will be based on, well, games obviously. From ARMA II to Fallout New Vegas, from Resident Evil 5 to F1 2010. Keep us in mind when looking for funny commentaries, reviews, previews and even just simple Let's Play's.
